Frigidaire Refrigerators

Frigidaire is one of the most trusted and oldest brands of refrigerators still being sold today. Known for its family-friendly and energy-efficient refrigerators, Frigidaire started off as the Guardian Frigerator Company in 1916 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The company pioneered various innovations in the refrigerator, coming up with the first self-contained refrigerator in the same year. The company name was changed in 1918 after it landed the founder of General Motors as one of its investors.

It would then change hands several more times during the course of its history. But 60 or so years after that, the company was acquired by White Consolidated industries, owner of White Westinghouse refrigerators. Ownership of the company then went to Electrolux in 1986.

Known as the 57 Chevy of the Refrigerator world, the Frigidaire brand is known for durability and lasting endurance. Even old and antique models can still be made to work today.

The company is also one of the leading pioneers in the production of washing machines, air conditioners, electric ranges, and the country뭩 first frost-free chest freezer.

Frigidaire is especially known for its side-by-side and top freezer models, which can be custom built to match the decor in the kitchen.

Frigidaire Refrigerators Key features

There are certain features that make this brand different from the rest. The top 5 features that make Frigidaire one of the most popular include its EasyCare Genuine Stainless Steel, Transition Lighting, Tile Out Wire Door Shelves, PureAir Filtration system, and Sliding SmartFit SpillSafe Shelves.

Easycare

The brand뭩 units with the EasyCare Genuine Stainless Steel do not face of the problem of unsightly smudges because the units are coated with an anti-smudge material to keep the surface shiny and pristine.

Accidental spills are eliminated with the clear shelves which are adjustable to allow for more room when needed.

Pure Air

Yet another feature is the PureAir Filtration System which eliminates bad odors from mingling with the food or uncovered drinks via a built-in and replaceable charcoal and baking soda filter.

Most Frigidaire units also come with the Tile Out Wire Door Shelves, which allow users to store taller items in the door of the unit without worrying that they뭠l the items will come flying out the moment they open the door.

Transition Lighting

Finally, Frigidaire has installed Transition Lighting in its units, which provides the right amount of light based on the exterior ambient lighting, allowing the eyes to adjust accordingly.

Energy Star

With the concerns on energy efficiency, the company is keeping up with the green movement by ensuring that most of its units sport the Energy Star certification.

This means modern Frigidaire units now run on 15% less energy than other brands that are not Energy Star certified.

Frigidaire Refrigerators Product types

The refrigerators produced by Frigidaire belong to two kinds: the side-by-side and the top freezer models, which cost from around $700 to $2,000 a unit.

The company also produces compact or mini-fridges as well as commercial freezers.

Frigidaire Top Shelf Refrigeration

Top shelf units come in stainless steel finishes or in white or beige exterior finishes. A typical example of the top shelf unit is the Frigidaire 17 Cubic Foot White Top Mount Refrigerator — the FRT17G4BW — which comes with the customary humidity-controlled crispers, sliding glass shelves, adjustable bins, static condenser, a freezer with two fixed door racks, a full-width shelf, and an optional ice maker.

The unit is preferred by most customers for its adjustable shelves and minimum noise. It has ample shelving for tall items, it is easy to clean, and the controls are very easy to manipulate and change. Another pro is the secure Kenmore lock and the fact that the fridge door can be closed tightly shut.

Frigidaire Professional Series Refrigerators

Another fitting example for a popular Frigidaire refrigerator is the Frigidaire Professional Series All Refrigerator In Stainless Steel — the PLRU1778ES.

Although more expensive than the usual Frigidaire unit, this unit comes in stylish stainless steel which is designed to match the stainless steel exteriors of the unit’s stainless steel freezer.

A common complaint with this unit is the relatively small capacity for such a price. Another drawback is that it can be louder than most refrigerators when running. However, most customers appreciate the negative air pressure automatic door closing.

Frigidaire Side by side Refrigeration

A good example of a side-by-side model that has gained praise from users is the Frigidaire 26.0 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water — the stainless steel FRS6R5ESB.

This is a sleek side-by-side unit that comes with top-mounted temperature controls, 3 SpillSafe Shelves, humidity control, clear deli drawer, crisper, and dairy door, just to name a few. Another perk is its ultrasoft handle.

Yet another side-by-side model from Frigidaire is the Frigidaire FSC23F7D (22.6 cu. ft.) Side-by-Side Refrigerator, which contains ample space but may come with a higher level of noise than some Frigidaire units.

However, it has the staple SpillSafe glass shelving, clear crispers, and one added perk, the through-the-door ice and water dispenser. It also has a clear compartment for storing meat, 2-liter door bins, a removable dairy compartment, and ample freezer space.

This unit also has dual-level lighting. Some customers, however, have complained of a very short working life; they estimate that the unit only lasts for about 4 years with continuous everyday use. In worst cases, some units bog down after 1 year or after the expiration of the warranty.

For a stylish side-by-side model, customers have the option of using the Frigidaire PHS69EHS in stainless steel. It comes with extra accessories like glass doors, clear bins, extra shelving, and digital control display.

The unit comes in stainless steel which is a stylish addition to any kitchen. However, like most Frigidaire units, it can be loud especially at night. The unit is big, which makes looking for ample storage space tricky especially among users with small kitchens.

The unit comes with anti-smudge coating to prevent unsightly fingerprint smudges. Because of its stainless steel finish, this refrigerator is more expensive than other brands.

Its selling price is around $1,500, which is a bit hefty as compared with other units that cost around $400 and upwards.
