Samsung Refrigerators

Samsung is one of the leading brands in consumer electronics today, which is known for its wide array of electronic products. The company was founded in 1938 in Korea by Byung-Chul Lee. Known as Three Stars in Korean, Samsung is popular for its high-tech and stylish home appliance units, refrigerators among them.

Samsung뭩 refrigerators are known for their stylish and classy models, with the units in the pricier range sporting stainless steel, platinum, and black or white finishes with LED displays.

Samsung Refrigerators Key features

Spacious

Most Samsung refrigerators sport twin cooling systems, a chill compartment, as well as vegetable and fruit drawers and shelves that are foldable and made of tempered glass.

Shelves are designed to be moved around to accommodate almost anything. A built-in icemaker, door pockets, as well as extra wine and egg racks are also staple features.

Neat features

Most units sport the multi-flow system apart from the twin cooling system to keep temperatures inside the refrigerators as even as possible.

Some models are also installed with the 2-minute door alarm systems, which alert users if the door is ajar.

High tech

More high-tech units come with stylish LED panels that display ref and freezer temperatures and make a distinctive ‘ping’ sound when touched.

Samsung refrigerator units can be expensive especially those that come in stainless steel finishes, but the flexibility and convenience that large units can provide coupled with the stylish exterior often make these refrigerators worth the money.

Common complaints

A common complaint among Samsung refrigerator users is the freezer malfunction and often loud noises when the machine is running. The icemaker is typically one feature that likes to make noise and can be slower than other brands when it comes to making ice.

Although this may not be a deal breaker to some users, not having ice when they need can be very inconvenient. The display also only shows information for no more than 5 seconds, after which it goes off; this can be quite inconvenient for users who want to see the real freezer and refrigerator temperature without having to push a button every 5 seconds.

Another complaint among users is the lack of space for standard-sized bottles and cans.

Samsung Refrigerator Product types available

Samsung makes various models of side-by-side, bottom mount, and archive refrigerators. Samsung뭩 side-by-side units all come with the Energy Star seal and range in size from 17 to 24 cu. ft. units with external ice and water dispensers.

A typical example of a Samsung side-by-side unit is the RFG297AARS, which has 28.5 cu. ft. storage capacity and is a stainless steel bottom mount freezer. The unit sports a twin cooling plus system, surround air flow, slide-out and tempered glass shelving, and 2 humidity controlled crispers.

It also has an internal LED lighting encased in a stylish stainless steel exterior with equally stylish door handles. Space is the main advantage with this unit, but others may find having to open both doors to open the deli drawer a little bit cumbersome.

Samsung Freezer Units

Samsung뭩 bottom freezer units are designed with 1 vertical door on top and the freezer at the bottom. Bottom freezer units tend to have lesser storage capacities than other models, but they make up for this with the convenience and ease of storage.

Units usually have a capacity that ranges from 18.7 to 21 cu. ft. Most units may come with side-by-side or one-door designs while sporting a bottom freezer. A typical example of this is the RF266ABWP/XAA, which has 25.8 cu. ft. storage space and comes in white finish.

This model sports 2 humidity-controlled crispers, an internal chilled water dispenser, a water filter, an automatic ice maker, a freezer drawer, and a door alarm.

Samsung French Door Refrigerators

The brand뭩 French door refrigerators fuse the side-by-side with the bottom freezer models, with the side-by-side compartments on top and the freezer at the bottom.

Models sport the twin cooling system, a patented compression system that is designed to cool the refrigerator and freezer separately, maintaining a constant temperature at all times and keeping food fresher longer.

Some French door units have the power cool option that lets users cool or freeze food in a shorter period of time. One drawback to the French door range of refrigerators is that not all of them are Energy Star compliant. The Samsung RFG297AARS, which is a freestanding French style unit, is a good example of this.

The model sports a color stainless steel exterior and internal lighting that is as bright as any refrigerator internal lighting system can provide. It also has an open door alarm for those who tend to leave the door open longer than necessary.

Common complaints include not being able to use the ice maker when the right door is open. Units in this range can be usually custom-installed to match existing cabinetry.

Four door refrigerator

A popular type of Samsung refrigerator is the 4-door refrigerator, although this model’s design does not look like that of any conventional refrigerator.

Samsung produces a total of 4 models, all of which come with the Energy Star seal. The 4-door units have separate fans for each compartment to prevent odors from mixing, and they also sport the open door alarm found in other models.

Samsung 4-door units come with 2 main doors and 2 smaller doors at the bottom. The smaller bottom drawers can be individually set according to the desired humidity and temperature to act as compartments for specific types of food.

To do these, users can select from either the Arctic Fresh Zone or the Fresh Select Zone modes. The former has a range of minus 14 to 35 degrees, compared to the 5 degrees in most freezers.

The Fresh Select Zone, on the other hand, gives the user a range of 23 to 41 degrees compared to standard refrigerators that provide a range of 35 to 45 degrees.

A common reason why double doors are a hit is that they do not take up much space when opened, especially because users only tend to open one door at a time. Users usually make use of the bottom compartments as freezers or refrigerator compartments.
